HORRIBLE suicide at POWELL and MARKET

I witnessed a horrible suicide at Powell and Market. People were egging this guy on to jump. He faked it twice and the crown got antsy. When he finally did jump you would think someone just hit a home run the way the crown reacted. Any way here is the pic some animal made...

  2. "The Telling Detail"
    By Kathie Yount,
    suicide prevention activist

In seventy-nine words the photo cartoonist darkly captures what happened that 2-16-10 doomsday in Hallidie Plaza, San Francisco, when humanity bugged out.

Using repetition, he creates his telling detail, spoken four times in six frames by members of the SFPD: "Just look away, partner. . .Just look away. . .Just look away. . .Just look away. . . ."

I guess they would really like everyone to do that, so they wouldn't have to explain anything like anarchy.

On the other hand, a cartoon symbol theorist might argue that frame two provides the telling detail: "That's why they call ME the negotiator."

Either way, the dismal comic that photoshopped the chaos of the victim's death clearly documents humanity's fall during a medical emergency, and the complication of suicide baiting is grounds for explanation.

  3. I removed that comment ONLY because I accidentally keyed "ground" rather than "grounds."

I would like to point out that I am not ashamed of anything I have said or written. Too bad this is not the case for TOPTOM2010 who has removed his comic and video, both pieces of evidence he should relinquish.

  4. "Your Death Will Always Be Surreal"
    By Kathie Yount,
    suicide prevention activist

In Mixed Martial Arts Underground Forum's "Street Fighter Vs. But [sic] Scooter. Tyrone next Kimbo" (September 2012) a bully in NYC's Union Square brutally beats a man and is completely ignored by cops, all captured and posted on YouTube.

A forum discussion ensues. NotImpressedByYourScreenName says, "In Australia that would get broken up by 50% of the people there within seconds."

Then this boast: "In Australia, do they chant 'jump' when people look to commit suicide from the top of buildings? I didn't think so! America, #1!!!" replies japetto.

"Is that for real? People do that??" questions NotimpressedByYourScreenName.

"Just 3 unrelated cases I found in a minute using Google," says japetto, his first example, the Instablog link to your death: http://www.instablogs.com/san-francisco-crowd-encouraged-suicide-victim-to-jump-then-laughed.html

Never could any of us have imagined pride based on your state-sanctioned suicide baiting. Your 2-16-10 suicide baiting death, Dylan, in Hallidie Plaza, San Francisco, will always be surreal to me, but a harbinger for America? We cannot heal what we refuse to confront. A lawsuit ensues. Your move, San Francisco.

  7. There is a new SF Weekly article about Dylan's life and death: "Public Influence: The Immortalization of an Anonymous Death" written by Albert Samaha you might be interested in reading TOPTOM2010. The journalist Albert Samaha vividly captures the man you man fun of in your comic. Its web address is

  9. I hope you have by now read about my son, the man you denigrated in your comic, TOPTOM2010. You could take a first step to atone for what you did by giving me YOUR photographic and video evidence. We are all waiting for you to do the right thing.

  10. Tomorrow is the third anniversary of Dylan Yount's suicide baiting death in Hallidie Plaza, San Francisco, on 2-16-10. He died on the second day of the 2010 National Random Acts of Kindness Week. Tomorrow is the sixth day of the 2013 Random Acts of Kindness Week.

You could atone for your comic and your attitude by relinquishing the rest of your evidence.

  29. You should move to Minnesota, TOPTOM2010. The supreme court there are just your kind of people. They see encouraging someone to kill himself/herself as a free speech right! They empower their suicide predators there, and do not see exploitation of them as a crime! 33. Hello, TOPTOM2010. I evoked one of your tweets from 2-16-10 in my title for my latest column, my 26th, at iPinion Syndicate. It is "Play is relative: Cat baseball in Missouri and Rome in San Francisco." I guess my question for you today would be, how can anyone "write" suicide baiting into a normal life? Have you been able to do that? I sure would like to have your video files. If you are so convinced that God would not forgive Dylan, are you so sure about yourself? You could do a lot for me by sharing your documentation of that day. I just heard two weekends ago about a third video. Would you care to share THAT information with me -- who posted THAT one to YouTube -- or do you know? It's been 4 years and almost 8 months. I still beg you for your evidence. Maybe someday you or your loved one(s) will need help. I am easy to find on the Internet. I have waited a long time to hear from you. I am 66.
